NORMAN, Okla. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team dropped a pair of nonconference contests Sunday afternoon at Love's Field.
SLU (14-9) opened the day with a 3-2 extra-inning loss to Sam Houston State (14-8) in nine innings. In the nightcap, the Lady Lions fell to No. 5 Oklahoma, 9-1.
Kailey Dixon and
Cydnee Schneider each had two hits in the loss to the Bearkats. Dixon and
Chloe Magee each drove in runs for SLU in the opener.
Cera Blanchard and
Macie LaRue (2-2) allowed nine hits to the Bearkats and combined for four strikeouts.
Brilee Ford hit her second home run of the season in the loss to the Sooners. Oklahoma, the top offensive team in Division I, touched up SLU pitching for five home runs.
Southeastern will conclude its pre-conference schedule Thursday with a 5 p.m. contest at UT Arlington. The game with UTA will be televised on ESPN+.
