SLU (7-2) opens SLC play Saturday at UIW

NEW ORLEANS – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team closed out its pre-Southland Conference schedule with a 6-1 road victory at Dillard Sunday afternoon.

Southeastern improved to 7-2 overall with the win, taking five of six singles matches and two of three doubles contests.

"It was good to get a win this afternoon," Southeastern head coach Jason Hayes commented. "Dillard is a tough team and we came ready to compete."

In doubles play, the SLU duo of Bente Bierma and Anicka Panchartek (2-0) cruised to a 6-0 victory over Nanami Fukushima and Haruka Homma on the No. 1 court. Mariam Tetradze and Adriana Tirado (6-2) clinched the doubles point for the Lions with a 6-2 win over Dillard's Yiran Chen and Danielle Pitchlyn on No. 3.

In singles play, Southeastern's Panatchakorn Suanarsa (5-3), Aitana Darder (1-1), Tetradze (7-0) and Tirado (7-1) all won in straight sets, while Taisia Bolsova won by default on court 6. Mariam Makashvili retired up in the first set on No. 2 to give the Bleu Devils their lone point.
