HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team continued its hot streak with a 7-0 victory over Louisiana Christian in nonconference action Friday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
Southeastern (5-1) swept all six singles matches and won all three doubles matches on the way to its fourth straight victory. The visiting Wildcats dropped to 1-3 overall.
"I really liked what I saw from our team today," Southeastern head coach
Jason Hayes commented. "We're really starting to get comfortable with our offense and we're finding success because of it."
In doubles play, the No. 1 Lion duo of
Bente Bierma and
Panatchakorn Suanarsa (5-1) won their fourth straight doubles outing, while the SLU pairings of
Leana Gomez and
Aitana Darder, as well as
Taisia Bolsova and
Bogi Csordas both evened their spring records at 3-3.
Gomez ran her team-best singles record to 5-1 with her fourth straight singles win. The sophomore from Miami, Florida was one of five Lions to earn straight set victories Monday, along with
Claudia Di Leonardo (4-2), Suanarsa (4-2), Darder (4-1) and Bolsova (4-2). Bierma completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-7, 10-8 victory over Raquel Coelho Rodriguez on court 2.
SLU will return to the court next Tuesday, hosting Loyola at 5 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
