HAMMOND, La. –The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team earned a 7-0 shutout victory over Grambling Saturday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Lions (2-1) won all six singles matches and cruised through doubles play with three wins. Grambling fell to 0-1 after dropping its spring opener.
In doubles play, the SLU duo of
Bente Bierma and
Panatchakorn Suanarsa (2-1) handled Takudzwa Mawisire and Jovana Latinovich, 6-3, on court 1. On No. 2, the Southeastern pair of
Aitana Darder and
Leana Gomez (1-2) picked up their first win of the spring, 6-1.
Taisia Bolsova and
Bogi Csordas (2-1) completed the sweep on court 3 for the Lions, defeating Ximena Raya-Arrendondo and Ekaterina Dziova, 6-3.
In singles play, Gomez, Bolsova and
Claudia Di Leonardo each improved to 2-1 with straight-set victories on courts 1, 6 and 3, respectively.
Kate Oborina (1-0) made her spring debut with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Emmory Simmons on court 5.
Oborina wasn't the only Lion to earn her first singles win of the spring Saturday, as Bierma (1-2) and Suanarsa (1-2) cruised to straight-set victories on courts 2 and 4, respectively.
Southeastern closes out its four-match home stand with a 2 p.m. match versus Dillard Sunday at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
