NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The two-time reigning Southland Conference regular season champion Southeastern Louisiana University indoor volleyball team had its six-match winning streak snapped with a 25-17, 25-13, 25-18 loss to Stephen F. Austin in Shelton Gym.
The loss was the first regular season SLC defeat for SLU (11-5, 3-1 SLC) since a 3-2 loss at Northwestern State Sept. 14, 2023 – ending a streak of 36 straight Southland regular season win streak. SFA (9-6, 4-0 SLC) remained unbeaten in league play.
Alexis Logarbo hit .500 for the match and led the Lady Lions with eight kills.
Kyra McKelvey added seven kills for Southeastern, while
Peyton Stokley and
Ashley Richardson shared team-high honors with 13 assists apiece.
India Bennett paced SLU with three blocks. Abby Bailey finished the match with a team-high eight digs for the Lady Lions.
SFA finished with a .330 hitting percentage on the way to the win over Southeastern. Izabella Ortiz and Katherine Holtman paced the Lumberjacks with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
Jayden Flynn (21 assists), Camryn Hill (13 digs) and Jordan Henderson (four blocks) were the other leaders for the hosts.
Southeastern will return home Thursday, hosting Northwestern State at 6:30 p.m. in the University Center. Fans are encouraged to wear green to help the Lady Lions Green Out the UC. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard live in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 The Lion.
