Day Two Recap
LEXINGTON, Kent. – Southeastern Louisiana University track and field team member
Esther Nwanze capped off her season by again threatening her own school record in the 400-meter hurdles in the national quarterfinal at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championship East First Round on Saturday at the University of Kentucky Outdoor Track & Field Facility, but it was ultimately not enough to advance her through to the semifinal race.
Nwanze was in the first heat and crossed the line in 57.85 seconds, less than half a second behind the SLU school record in the discipline, which she set just two weeks earlier at the Southland Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. However, that time would earn her an eighth-place finish in her heat, immediately ending her chances of advancing to the semifinal race at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in two weeks. After all three heats were complete, she stood in 20
th place in the quarterfinal standings.
With Nwanze's season complete, Southeastern's 2024 track & field season also comes to a close.
