HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team completed an impressive Southland Conference series sweep with a 10-0 victory in its regular season home finale over Lamar Saturday afternoon at North Oak Park.
With the victory in its regular season home finale combined with other results around the league this weekend, Southeastern (42-10, 17-4 SLC) will be no lower than the No. 2 seed in the Southland Conference Tournament, scheduled for May 7-10 in Hammond. SLU will enter its final series with league-leading McNeese with a chance to overtake the Cowgirls for the top spot in the Southland Conference standings. Southeastern would need to sweep McNeese next weekend to be the top seed in the tournament. Lamar (26-23, 12-12 SLC) has finished its league schedule and has secured a spot in the seven-team postseason field, along with the Lady Lions, McNeese, UIW, Nicholls, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and HCU.
Maria Detillier led SLU at the plate with her fourth home run of the season and three RBI.
Audrey Greely collected a pair of hits, giving her an even 200 for her Southeastern career.
Lexi Johnson and
Maddie Watson each had two RBI for the Lady Lions in their third straight run-rule victory over the visiting Cardinals.

Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeaux (5-3) and
Chloe Bennett combined to hold the Cardinals to two hits in Saturday's victory. The shutout was the 15
th of the season for the Lady Lion pitching staff, extending the program's single-season school record total.
Southeastern wasted no time taking the lead in the bottom of the first inning versus Lamar starter Emma Wardlaw (9-7).
Ka'Lyn Watson led off the game with a double, then scored later in the frame on a LU throwing error. A perfectly executed squeeze bunt by
Maddie Watson scored
Chloe Magee later in the inning and gave SLU a 2-0 lead.
Magee drove in Greely for the first Lady Lion run of the second inning. Detillier then launched a three-run home run over the left field fence to stake Southeastern to a 6-0 advantage.
Southeastern ended any thoughts of a Lamar comeback in the bottom of the fourth inning. Johnson singled home
Ka'Lyn Watson and Magee, then scored on an RBI single by
Maddie Watson. Greely picked up the 200
th hit of her career in style, lining a triple into the left centerfield gap to score
Bailey Krolczyk and give SLU a commanding 10-0 lead.
Bennett sat down the Cardinals in order in the top of the fifth inning to secure the win and the series sweep.
Southeastern's series at McNeese opens with a 6 p.m. contest Friday and concludes with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday. All three games will be televised on ESPN+.
