HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team embarks on a four-game road trip this weekend, beginning with a key Southland Conference series at McNeese. Games are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Joe Miller Ballpark in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
All three games between Southeastern (21-19, 3-9 SLC) and the Cowboys (19-20, 3-9 SLC) are slated for coverage on ESPN+.
Fans can listen to the game broadcasts in the Hammond area on 90.9 The Lion. Both teams are exactly halfway through their conference slate this season and are tied for what would be the final spot in the 2024 Southland Conference Baseball Championship presented by North Oaks Health System set to be held, May 22-25, at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field in Hammond.
SLU is coming off a pair of non-conference wins at home against Alcorn State.
The Lions, hitting at a .267 clip as a team, are led at the plate by
Shea Thomas (.324-7-31),
TJ Salvaggio (.297-8-29),
Rhett Rosevear (.290-1-8) and
Ryan Brome (.269-3-19).
Right-hander
Brennan Stuprich (3-3, 2.52) draws the starting nod for the Lions in the series opener. The redshirt junior from Kenner, Louisiana will be opposed by McNeese senior right-hander JT Moeller (3-4, 3.38).
Saturday's SLU will send redshirt junior right-hander RHP
Dakota Lee (0-3, 6.64) to the mound. The Cowboys have not announced a starting pitcher for the contest and neither team has announced starters for Sunday's series finale.
Hitting .255 as a squad, McNeese is led at the plate by Cooper Hext (.316-3-16), Braden Duhon (.306-0-21), Elliott Hebert (.292-2-14) and Conner Westenburg (.290-5-29).
The Cowboys are coming off a 6-4 win this past Tuesday at home against Louisiana Christian.

Southeastern heads to New Orleans, Louisiana next week for its final non-conference road contest of the 2024 regular season. The Lions face Tulane with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
