Lions Open Southland Slate at Northwestern State

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team opens Southland Conference action this weekend with a three-game series at Northwestern State in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
 
Games between Southeastern (15-6, 0-0 SLC) and the Demons (5-16, 0-0 SLC) are slated for 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Brown-Stroud Field. All three games will be carried on ESPN+.
 
Fans can also listen to the game broadcasts in the Hammond area on 90.9 The Lion. In addition, an audio stream is available online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive and via the Lions Gameday Experience, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio apps. Both the TuneIn and MyTuner apps are compatible with the Apple CarPlay software available in most late-model automobiles. Search for KSLU 90.9 FM in the TuneIn app.
 
The Lions carry a six-game winning streak into the series, picking a run-rule victory over LSU Alexandria, 17-5, this past Tuesday.
 
Shea Thomas (.365), Southland Conference Hitter of the Week Justin Williams (.333), Rhett Rosevear (.321), Jude Hall (.314) and TJ Salvaggio (.313) are the Lions' leading hitters. Hall and Thomas pace the squad with four home runs apiece. Thomas has also driven in a team-high 20 runs this season.
 
Right-hander Brennan Stuprich (1-2, 3.04) draws the starting nod for the Lions in the series opener. The redshirt junior from Kenner, Louisiana will be opposed by NSU junior right-hander Chase Prestwich (2-2, 9.27).
 
Saturday's second game features a pitching matchup of redshirt junior right-hander Dakota Lee (0-1, 5.32) for Southeastern and senior right-hander Dawson Flowers (1-1, 6.64) for the Demons.
 
Will Kinzeler (1-0, 7.02), a senior right-hander from Covington, Louisiana, earns the start on the mound Sunday opposite Northwestern State freshman right-hander Dylan Marionneaux (0-4, 8.82) in the series finale.
 
The Demons have dropped their last four, including a 5-2 decision Wednesday at former Southland foe Sam Houston State.
 
Bo Willis (.305), Samuel Stephenson (.300), Daniel Burroway (.300) and Rocco Gump (.282) pace NSU at the plate. Gump and Willis are tied for the team lead with three home runs apiece, and the latter has also driven in a team-best 20 runs.

The next episode of Inside Southeastern Baseball with Bobby Barbier airs live at a new time, Monday at 5 p.m., from WiseGuys Daiquiris in Hammond. Barbier joins co-host Allen Waddell for the 60-minute radio show, talking about the latest in Southeastern baseball.
 
It can be heard locally on 90.9 The Lion (KSLU-FM), via the Lions Gameday Experience, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio apps, as well as online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or LionUpRadio.org. Southeastern wraps up its four-game road trip Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana against No. 4-ranked LSU at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field. TV coverage will be provided by the SEC Network+ and the radio broadcast will air locally on 90.9 The Lion.
