COMMERCE, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team outscored Texas A&M-Commerce, 31-0, on the way to a Southland Conference doubleheader sweep Friday night at the John Cain Family Softball Complex.
The two run-rule victories for SLU (20-6, 4-1 SLC) clinched the 11
th straight Southland Conference series victory for the Lady Lions. Friday was a total team effort, as every active player on the Southeastern roster saw action in the two victories over TAMUC (5-24, 0-5 SLC). The dominant sweep saw SLU out-hit the hosts, 31-4, and the Lady Lion defense play error-free.
In the opener, Southeastern scored in every inning on the way to a 14-0 shutout victory.
Lexi Johnson led SLU with a 4-for-4 showing at the plate, hitting her fourth home run of the season and driving in three.
Audrey Greely and
Chloe Magee were both 2-for-2 in the win.
The season-high 16 hits included a several first for the Lady Lions.
Faith Kivett drove in her first two runs of the season, while
Brilee Broussard and
Mykail Lusco collected the first hits of their respective SLU careers.
Cera Blanchard (8-1) and
Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeaux combined to hold A&M-Commerce to three hits.
Southeastern banged out 15 hits in the nightcap and took advantage of nine A&M-Commerce errors in a 17-0 win.
Ka'Lyn Watson homered and drove in four runs, while
Maria Detillier added three RBI. Magee, Detillier and Johnson had two hits apiece, while Broussard and
Ariel Gomez each picked up their first RBI of the season.
Ellie DuBois (6-2),
Chloe Bennett and
Allison Brunson combined to hold the host Lions to one hit in SLU's ninth shutout victory of the season.

Game One – Southeastern 14, Texas A&M-Commerce 0
Southeastern jumped out to a 1-0 lead against TAMUC starter Anissa Arredondo (0-4) in the top of the first inning. Magee drew a one-out walk, then scored on an RBI double by Detillier.
Johnson and Greely singled, then
Colleen Kulivan drew a walk to load the bases with no outs in the top of the second inning.
Cam Goodman then beat out an infield single to score a run, then Arredondo walked
Ka'Lyn Watson to force in another run. An RBI groundout by
Sadie Hewitt closed out the scoring and gave SLU a 4-0 lead.
Southeastern tacked on four more runs in the top of the eighth inning. Greely doubled just inside the left field line to score the first two runs of the inning, then Magee singled home another run and the Lady Lions took advantage of an A&M-Commerce error to extend the lead to 8-0.
Johnson pushed the lead to double digits in the top of the fourth inning. After a leadoff double by
Bailey Krolczyk, Johnson lined a two-run shot over the right centerfield fence to extend the advantage to 10-0.
Southeastern closed out the scoring in the top of the fifth inning. Kivett doubled home the frame's first two runs, then Johnson and
Sophia Stoddard followed with RBI singles of their own to provide the final 14-0 margin.
Blanchard and Comeaux were never threatened by the hosts, striking out seven in the shutout effort.
Game Two – Southeastern 17, Texas A&M-Commerce 0 (5 Innings)
Southeastern took the lead in the top of the first inning versus TAMUC starter Maddie Muller (2-10).
Ka'Lyn Watson walked, stole second, advance to third on a sacrifice by Magee and scored on an RBI groundout by Detillier. Krolczyk followed with a single, stole second and scored on an error by Muller to put Southeastern ahead, 2-0.
SLU added to its tally in the top of the second inning.
Ka'Lyn Watson drove in the inning's first run with an RBI groundout, then another run came in on a throwing error. An RBI single by Detillier put the Lady Lions ahead, 5-0.
After Texas A&M-Commerce held Southeastern off the board in the third, SLU bounced back by sending 11 to the plate in an eight-run frame. Detillier, Krolczyk,
Maddie Watson, Johnson and
Audrey Greely had consecutive RBI, then
Ka'Lyn Watson capped the scoring with a three-run shot over the right field fence to extend the Lady Lion lead to 13-0.
Southeastern closed out the scoring in the fifth. A pair of errors and RBI by
Addison Contorno, Broussard and Gomez fueled a four-run inning and provided the final 14-0 margin.
DuBois, Bennett and Brunson were never threatened, as the trio combined to strike out five batters and did not allow a Texas A&M-Commerce base runner into scoring position.
