HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team dropped a 6-3 decision in the finale of its Southland Conference series with UIW Sunday afternoon at North Oak Park.
The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for Southeastern (18-6, 2-1 SLC). The loss was the first in 21 games for the Lady Lions, who clinched their 10
th straight SLC series victory with a doubleheader sweep over the Cardinals Saturday, versus UIW (13-5, 1-2 SLC) since the Cardinals joined the Southland Conference in 2014.
Bailey Krolczyk and
Maddie Watson each had two hits apiece for Southeastern. All five Southeastern pitchers saw action in the circle Sunday with
Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeaux (2-2) taking the loss.
UIW took a 2-0 lead off Comeaux in the top of the first inning. A two-run single by Ryleigh Mata gave the Cardinals the early advantage.
Southeastern cut the lead in half in the bottom of the third inning.
Addison Contorno doubled then scored on an RBI double by
Ka'Lyn Watson to pull the Lady Lions within one.
UIW extended the lead in the top of the fourth inning, loading the bases with no outs versus

Southeastern answered right back in the bottom of the fourth, as a sacrifice fly by Contorno and an RBI single by
Cam Goodman cut the UIW advantage to 4-3.
SLU looked poised to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, as
