JONESBORO, Ark. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team resumed its span of five straight road games with a 1-0 loss at Arkansas State Sunday afternoon at A-State Soccer Park.
Southeastern (1-4-0) put up a tough defensive effort majority of the match, keeping the Red Wolves (2-2-1) out of the net for 84 minutes of the contest. Lady Lion goalkeeper
Olivia Griffin competed all 90 minutes finishing with 4-3 save advantage over ASU.
SLU had three close shots on target that left Arkansas State on edge.
Mya Guillory and
Hanna Moffatt both attempted a kick that resulted wide in hopes to break the scoreless 1
st half.
Nicole O'Neill in the 2
nd half would also take a shot that ended wide left in an attempt to gain the upper hand.
In the final minutes of the contest Arkansas State's Nicoline Hansen, scoring her first goal of the season, drove one through the lower right corner of the net from an assist by Emma Riley. Hansen would give the Red Wolves a 1-0 lead as time wound down to end the match. ASU goalkeeper Olivia Luther carried the weight of keeping the Lady Lions out the net with three saves.
Southeastern will return to action Thursday, traveling to ULM for a 6 p.m. contest.
