CORPUS CHRISTI, Tex. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team tied 1-1 in a hard-fought battle with McNeese in the opening round of the SLC Tournament.

Southeastern (6-10-2, 4-5-1) fell behind early, but held the McNeese (8-7-4, 5-3-2) scoreless for the remaining 85 minutes of the match. Lady Lion goalkeeper Olivia Griffin played all 110 minutes of the match with five saves.

Nicole O'Neill found the net for her first goal of the season from an assist by Kelsey Fuller to help SLU get on the board. The goal came in the 52nd minute of the match to level the playing field.

McNeese wasted no time taking the early advantage. Kaile Kukaua scored off a feed from Morgan Fiedler in the fifth minute to give the Cowgirls a 1-0 lead.

SLU held a strong defensive front that left McNeese scoreless for the remainder of the match to force overtime. Overtime regulation added two 10-minute halves to the match.

The Lady Lions had the first penalty kick by Sarah Bancevic that soared past McNeese goalkeeper Jackie Kelly. Hannah McCord and Mya Guillory would follow next to connect on goal to total three penalty kicks on the board.
