Errors Prove Costly as Lady Lions Drop Match to New Orleans

22 Attack Errors, 12 Service Errors Doom SLU to Defeat at UNO

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team found itself to be its own worst enemy against New Orleans as 22 attack errors and 12 service errors proved costly, allowing the Privateers to take a 3-0 (20-25, 20-25, 24-26) win over the Lady Lions Thursday night at UNO's Human Performance Center.

Cicily Hidalgo picked up her sixth double-double of the season in the match, finishing with 11 kills and 12 digs. Kailin Newsome led the team with 12 kills and two service aces. Alexis Logarbo led the team at the net with two solo blocks. Gracie Duplechein led the team with 21 assists while Peyton Stokley added 12 in the helper category.

SLU finished the match with more kills, 41-39, and more service aces, 5-3, than the Privateers, but the inability to either keep the ball within the lines or get it over the net proved costly. The Lady Lions committed 22 attack errors in the match, only seven coming due to UNO blocks, while the Privateers committed just nine attack errors, five due to SLU blockers swatting back attacks. That led to UNO finishing the match with a .316 attack percentage while SLU's attack percentage ended at .170. SLU also committed 12 errors on the serve, compared to just six service miscues by UNO.

The loss drops the Lady Lions (13-4, 3-2 SLC) to 1-4 in true road matches on the season while they hold an undefeated record in home matches, 5-0, and matches played at neutral sites, 7-0. SLU looks to raise that home record to 6-0 on Saturday as Nicholls State comes to Hammond for a lunch time affair on Hall of Fame and Alumni Day on the SLU campus. Opening serve of Saturday's match against the Colonels (4-12, 1-3 SLC) is set for 11:00 A.M. at the University Center.
