HOUSTON, Tx. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team ended its Southland Conference unbeaten streak after dropping a 4-1 decision to HCU Friday night at Sorrels Field.
Southeastern (4-3-1, 2-1-1 SLC) fell on the road to HCU (1-6-2, 1-2 SLC) after falling behind, 3-0, in the opening half. Shamoy Campbell scored SLU's lone goal in the second half off an assist by Emma Ramsey, but the Lady Lions would get no closer. Sophie Wendt had five saves in goal throughout the match. Campbell led the Lady Lions with four shots, while Kelsey Fuller was close behind with two shots.
The host Huskies found the net in the fifth, 23rd and 31st minute. never looking back on their way to their first victory of 2022. Emily Jaimes led the Huskies with two goals and three shots, Talin Rizzo and Xya Balderas were close behind with a goal each.
Southeastern returns to action Sunday, Oct. 2, hosting league leader Lamar in a 1 p.m. SLC match at Strawberry Stadium that will be broadcast on ESPN+.
