HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team had a 3-2 home opener victory against Southern.
Southeastern (2-1) opened up the match a goal made by
Mya Guillory assisted by
Halli Roe within the first ten minutes of the match. It was Guillory's first of the season. The second goal made for the Lady Lions was scored by

Emma Jones, last week's Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week, scored the winning goal.
Defensively, the Lady Lions faltered some, allowing two goals scored by Southern's (1-4-1). Alayla Jackson and Cordney Armstrong. They were able to reset themselves for a nail-biting header put into the net by
Emma Jones with less than five minutes left in the match.
SLU goalkeeper
Olivia Griffin finished with two saves while Southeastern had 13 shots and five shots on goal.
This is the second win for first year head coach

Next, the Lady Lions will be traveling to Southern Alabama Sunday at 5 p.m. They will open conference play on the road next weekend against McNeese on Sept. 11.
