Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team scored five unanswered runs in the later innings Wednesday before ultimately falling short, 7-6, to Tulane at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Southeastern (8-13) fell behind early, giving up three Green Wave (14-7-1) runs in the first inning. Tulane would tack on single runs in the second and fourth before the Lions finally cracked the scoreboard.
Left fielder
Tristan Welch, a graduate student from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, doubled to open up the fifth. After advancing to third base on a wild pitch, he scored on
Christian Garcia's sacrifice fly to right field.
The Green Wave answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning, taking a 7-1 lead into the sixth.
Preston Faulkner, a senior from Denham Springs, Louisiana, led off the sixth with a double into the right-center field gap. Designated hitter
Pierce Leavengood followed with a double in nearly the exact same spot, chasing Tulane starting pitcher Carter Robinson from the game.
With the Lions down, 7-2, Welch greeted reliever Lane Thomas with an infield single. Both runners advanced on a groundout before
Shea Thomas drew a one-out walk to load the bases. Leavengood scored on
Connor Manola's fielder's choice grounder.
In the seventh,
Tyler Finke hit the Lions' fifth double of the game with one out before Thomas walked
Evan Keller. Leavengood brought Southeastern within a run, depositing a two-out fastball well beyond the wall in right-center. The three-run blast was the first home run of his SLU career.
The Lions stranded a pair of runners in the eighth before going u and down in order in the ninth.
Robinson (2-2) earned the win, allowing three runs – two earned in five innings pitched. He scattered six hits, one walk and a pair of hit batters. The right-hander struck out six.
Adam Guth (1-1) suffered the loss, allowing four runs in three innings pitched.
SLU picked up double-digit hits for the second time in as many games. Thomas (3-for-3), Faulkner (2-for-5), Leavengood (2-for-5) and Welch (2-for-4) all turned in multiple hits for the Lions.

Southeastern opens Southland Conference play this weekend, hosting in-state rival Nicholls in a three-game series. Games are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

Single-game tickets are on sale for the remainder of the regular season. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to minimize ticket lines on game days. Southeastern students are encouraged to contact the ticket office prior to the game to reserve theirs in advance.
General admission tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for youth (ages 3-12). Southeastern students, with a university ID, and children under age 2 are admitted free. Gameday parking is $5 per day for standard vehicles and $25 for RVs.

Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays. The ticket booth at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field opens exactly one hour prior to the scheduled first pitch.
