HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team returns to the road this weekend, traveling to Birmingham, Alabama for a three-game series at Samford.

Games are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Joe Lee Griffin Field. All three are slated to air on ESPN+.

One-time Trans America Athletic Conference (TAAC) foes, SLU (8-9) faces Samford (7-7) for the first time in 17 years. SLU last matched up with the Bulldogs during the 2005 season in Hammond and it will be the Lions' first trip to Joe Lee Griffin Field in 20 years. Southeastern leads the overall series, 32-12, and has won 10 of the 19 games played at Samford.

Fans in the Hammond area can listen to Tuesday's game on the flagship station of the Southeastern Sports Radio Network – KSLU 90.9 FM – in addition to online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive and via both the Lions Gameday Experience, Mixlr and MyTuner Radio apps. The MyTuner app is compatible with the Apple CarPlay software available in most late model automobiles. Fans should search for SLU Athletics (Mixlr) or Southeastern Sports Radio Network (MyTuner).

Senior right-hander Hunter O'Toole (1-2, 4.91) draws the Lions' starting assignment Saturday opposite Samford sophomore right-hander Michael Ross (1-0, 4.26).

Wrapping up the series Sunday afternoon, Southeastern will start redshirt junior right-hander Hayden Robb (0-1, 6.46) against senior right-hander Jalon Long (2-1, 4.34) for the Bulldogs.

The Lions are coming off a 5-1 win at home Tuesday over No. 1-ranked Ole Miss.

Preston Faulkner (.254), Evan Keller (.250) and Tyler Finke (.250) pace Southeastern at the plate. Faulkner leads the squad with seven extra-base hits, including a pair of home runs, and 12 RBIs. Keller's eight stolen bases are tops on the team. Rhett Rosevear is tied for the national lead in HBPs (11) while SLU ranks fifth nationally as a team (42).

Samford, which has had both of its midweek games postponed the last two weeks, was swept in a three-game series at home this past weekend by Memphis.

The Bulldogs' offensive leaders are Towns King (.333), Garrett Howe (.315) and Will David (.302). King also leads the club in total extra-base hits (8), home runs (4) and RBIs (13). Colton Ledbetter has swiped a team-high four bags.

UP NEXT
Southeastern wraps up its four-game road trip Tuesday, traveling down to New Orleans, Louisiana for a non-conference contest at Tulane. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

The Green Wave (11-7) defeated SLU, 23-1, in Hammond back on March 1, but the Lions have won eight of the last 10 matchups. Tulane leads the all-time series, 79-41.
