Southeastern Wins 90-34 over Dillard

HAMMOND, LA.  – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team win against Dillard 90-34 in the University Center Friday Night.

The Lady Lions (4-2) continue their winning streak that started on Tuesday against South Alabama with a solid performance against Dillard that ended with some newcomers taking over the hardwood.

Jalencia Pierre led Southeastern in scoring with 18 points and four assists. Chrissy Brown hit a double-double with 12 points and 12 total rebounds. Jaylen Huderson ended the game with five steals.

Dillard's Taylor Dewitt led with 10 points and seven rebounds. While both Aubree and Asia Dawson had a combined total of six rebounds.

Southeastern pulled away with an early lead over Dillard as Hailey Giaratano sunk in a three pointer within the first minute of the game. The ball ended up in the hands of SLU again whenever Huderson stole the ball back and gave it to Pierre. The ball would change possession quickly as Southeastern continued to sink the ball into the net allowing a massive lead as Giaratano got the ball into on a buzzer beater to finish out the first quarter 23-9.

The second quarter was completely controlled by the Lady Lions as they improved their lead by another 25 points which was their largest lead all season before halftime. The first basket of the second quarter was made by Giaratano as a layup in the paint with an assist by Brown. The scoring continued for the Lady Lions with points put on the board by Taylor Bell, Daija Harvey and Cierra Cunningham.

Third quarter came and went with as the Lady Lions continued to put the ball through the net. They were able to put up another 21 points making the score 69-23 before the final quarter.

Southeastern held Dillard 11 points during the fourth quarter which was the most they had allowed all game.
