HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana had its seven-game winning streak snapped with a 3-1 loss to McNeese in Southland Conference softball action Saturday evening at North Oak Park.
 
Despite the loss, SLU (23-14, 12-3 Southland) maintained its streak of five consecutive Southland Conference series victories by virtue of its doubleheader sweep of the Cowgirls (19-21, 9-6 Southland) on Friday.
 
Audrey Greely led SLU with two hits, while Aeriyl Mass scored the Lady Lions' lone run.
 
McNeese took the lead versus Lady Lion starter MC Comeaux in the top of the first inning. Cory McCrary led off the game with a single and scored on a sacrifice fly by Kaylee Lopez to stake the Cowgirls to a 1-0 advantage.
 
Southeastern tied it right back up in the bottom of the first inning. Mass led off the game with a single and scored with heads up base running to knot the score at 1-1.
 
McNeese reclaimed the advantage for good in the top of the third inning. Haylee Brinlee doubled home a pair of runs against SLU reliever Shelby Sitzman (0-2) to give the Cowgirls a 3-1 edge.
 
From there, Cowgirl starter Ashley Vallejo (3-6) and Heather Zumo matched zeroes for the remainder of the contest. Southeastern had its opportunities, stranding six runners in the final four innings versus Vallejo.

Southeastern will open a four-game road swing on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. contest at UL Lafayette.
