TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Southeastern Louisiana pitcher Heather Zumo tossed a complete-game shutout, as the Lady Lion softball team won a 1-0 pitcher's duel over Florida Gulf Coast on the final day of the FSU Unconquered Invitational Sunday morning at JoAnne Graf Field.
 
Zumo (5-1) scattered five hits and struck out five on the way to the shutout victory to put SLU (7-6) back over .500 for the season. FGCU fell to 5-8 overall with the loss.
 
Southeastern managed all the offense it would need in the bottom of the second inning. Madisen Blackford drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on an error, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on an RBI single by Ellie DuBois to give SLU a 1-0 lead.
 
From there, Zumo held Florida Gulf Coast at bay. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native pitched out of a two-on, no-out jam in the fourth inning. After stranding two more in the fifth, Zumo allowed just one hit over the final two frames, securing the win by sitting FGCU down in order in the top of the seventh.
 
Blackford, DuBois, Lindsey Rizzo and Kelci Bodin all collected hits for the Lady Lions in the victory.
