HAMMOND, La. – The Southland Conference released the 2020-21 women's soccer schedule, the league office announced Tuesday.
 
The Southeastern Lady Lions, under fourth-year head coach Chris McBride, will host six Southland matches while traveling for five.
 
"We're just grateful to be getting back out on the field," said McBride. "I can't be happier and thankful for the work that (SLU Athletic Director) Jay Artigues and everyone with the conference that worked hard to put together a plan and a schedule for us. Of course it's going to be a little different with some of the delays and layoffs but we will gladly adjust and enjoy every minute we get to spend on the field. This team, the players and coaches have worked really hard for the season and we're thankful to get an opportunity to play this year."
 
SLU will open the conference slate on the road against reigning conference tournament and regular season champion Lamar Sunday, Feb. 14.
 
Following the showdown with LU, the Lady Lions will return home for a pair of matches against Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin Feb. 19 and 21. McBride and the Lady Lions will then embark on a two-game road trip to Northwestern State and Central Arkansas Feb. 26 and 28.
 
The conference will have a layoff with no matches scheduled March 1-11.
 
After the break, Southeastern will take on in-state rival McNeese at home Friday, March 12. With a week in-between matches, the Lady Lions will prepare for their longest road trip of the conference season when they face UIW and Abilene Christian March 19 and 21.
 
SLU will have another 10-day break before returning to action Easter Weekend at home against Houston Baptist (Thursday, April 1) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Saturday, April 3). The Lady Lions will, then, finish the regular season with a home contest with Nicholls Friday, April 9.
 
The conference tournament will be hosted by the regular season champion beginning Thursday, April 15. The Lady Lions will announce their non-conference schedule at a later date.
