HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana opens a five-game road trip Tuesday with a midweek contest against No. 20-ranked LSU at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m., streaming on the SEC Network+ and through the ESPN app.
 
The nonconference matchup can also be heard in the Hammond area on the flagship station of the Southeastern Sports Radio Network – KSLU 90.9 FM – in addition to online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive and via both the Lions Gameday Experience and TuneIn Radio apps.

The Lions (5-6), who are looking for their first midweek victory, took 2-of-3 games from Stony Brook this past weekend. LSU (7-5) dropped 2-of-3 games this past weekend at the Shriner's Hospital for Children College Classic in Houston, Texas. The Tigers defeated Texas, 4-3, Friday, but fell, 6-4, Saturday to Baylor and were no-hit Sunday in a 1-0 loss to No. 15-ranked Oklahoma.
 
Southeastern is led by Jacob Burke (.333), Tyler Finke (.314) and Champ Artigues (.270) at the plate. Burke, Finke and Nick Ray have each produced three extra-base hits. Artigues has driven in a team-high 11 runs while Finke leads the team with seven stolen bases.
 
Junior right-hander Daniel Dugas (0-2, 11.12) draws the pitching nod for the Lions, facing LSU left-hander Brandon Kaminer (1-1, 2.70). Dugas worked 3.1 innings at ULM in his previous start, allowing six runs – four earned – on seven hits. He issued three walks and struck out four batters. Kaminer suffered the loss against Baylor, allowing three runs – two earned – without retiring a batter.
 
Zack Mathis (.366), Daniel Cabrera (.359) and Cade Beloso (.357) are the Tigers leading hitters. Saul Garza owns a team-high three home runs and 12 RBI. Cabrera has swiped a team-leading five bags.
 
LSU has won back-to-back games against the Lions since Southeastern's 5-4 win in Hammond in 2018. The last three games in the series have been decided by a total of four runs.
 
Southeastern returns to action Friday, opening a three-game Southland Conference series at Central Arkansas. Games are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. The Lions conclude their five-game road trip with a midweek contest, March 10, against Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana.
