HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team hosts Houston Baptist University Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the University Center as they look to climb up the Southland Standings.

The Lions (6-16, 3-8 Southland) enter Wednesday's matchup with Houston Baptist two games out of the final spot in the Southland Conference Tournament with nine regular season games left. SLU is coming off a tough loss at home to the University of New Orleans, 84-73, Saturday night. Sophomore
Ty Brewer led the Lions with 24 points but UNO got 28 points from senior Bryson Robinson who drilled eight three-pointers.

Brewer, a Meridian, Mississippi native, continues to lead the Lions in scoring (15.7 ppg – eighth in Southland) and rebounding (7.9 rpg – sixth in Southland). Senior
Von Julien, a Reserve, Louisiana native, leads the Southland in assists with 108 (4.99 apg).

The Huskies (2-17, 2-8 Southland) defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 82-77, Saturday night at home as they led by as much as 19 in the second half before holding off a late rally from the Islanders. HBU will be looking for their first road win of the season (0-11) Wednesday against the Lions.

Houston Baptist is led by first team preseason All-Southland selection Ian Dubose. The junior leads the Southland in scoring (19.8 ppg) and is eighth in rebounds (7.5 rpg). The Huskies also lead the conference in team scoring, averaging 81.9 points per game. However, HBU is last in defense allowing 99.1 points per game.

The Lions lead the all-time series against Houston Baptist, 7-5, including winning the last two matchups. SLU defeated the Huskies last year on the road, 70-67, as they led by 16 in the second half before holding off HBU's comeback bid. Two years ago, the Lions pulled away from the Huskies, 81-67, in Hammond.
