HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will continue its three-game road swing on Saturday, traveling to Nicholls for a 1 p.m. Southland Conference contest.

The game between the Lady Lions (10-12, 7-6 Southland) and the Colonels (7-16, 4-10 Southland) will be televised on ESPN3 and can also be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the TuneIn Radio and Lions Game Day Experience apps.

Southeastern is currently sixth in the league standings, while Nicholls is trying to fight its way back into postseason contention. The top eight teams will advance to the Southland Conference Tournament, scheduled for March 12-15 at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.

The Lady Lions head down the stretch with an inside track for its first postseason berth since the 2011-12 season thanks to a five-game winning streak. The streak was snapped by Sam Houston State, 81-75, on Wednesday in Huntsville, Texas.

Celica Sterling led the way for SLU with a season-high 24 points in Wednesday's loss. Caitlyn Williams (14 points, nine rebounds), Charliee Dugas (14 points) and Tyler Morrison (seven assists) were the other top performers for Southeastern. SHSU closed the game with a 10-4 run and scored 30 points off 23 Lady Lion turnovers.

Sterling is currently fifth in the Southland with a team-high 14.4 points per game. Jyar Francis joins her in double figures with 10.5 points per outing.

Alexius Horne (9.8 ppg), Morgan Carrier (7.7 ppg), Dugas (7.5 ppg) and Williams (7.4 ppg) are the team's other top scorers. Dugas enters Saturday's game needing 20 points to become the 21st player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.

Horne is also Southeastern's top distributor and is currently third on the league leaderboard with 3.9 assists per game. Morrison has moved into 10th place on the school's career list with 263 career assists.

Sterling has done much of her scoring damage from behind the arc, ranking fifth in the conference with 2.2 three-point field goals per game. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native is sixth in school history with 114 career 3's and second on the program's list with a 38.0 three-point field goal percentage.

Behind Williams' team-high 6.6 rebounds per game, the Lady Lions have steadily improved on the boards as the season has progressed. Currently 10th in the Southland in rebounds per game, Williams has 530 career rebounds and needs four boards to crack the program's all-time top 15.

SLU has held opponents to 64.7 points and forced 18.0 turnovers per contest. Horne leads the team and is 10th in the conference with 1.9 steals per game. Morrison (142, 8th) and Dugas (141, 9th) are both on the school's career leaderboard for steals.

Williams has moved up to sixth in the Southland with 1.2 blocked shots per game. The Brusly, Louisiana native's 70 career blocked shots are the ninth-highest in school history.

Southeastern will be facing a Nicholls squad that is led by the quartet of Chrystal Ezechukwu (13.5 ppg), Airi Hamilton (12.2 ppg), Loan-Anh Johnson (10.6 ppg) and Tykeria Williams (9.9 ppg).

Ezechukwu is 12th in the Southland with 6.5 rebounds per game. Williams is currently second in the league with 4.4 assists per outing and fourth in the conference with 2.4 steals per contest.

Saturday will be the 85th all-time meeting between SLU and Nicholls. The Lady Lions lead the all-time series, 58-26, but Nicholls has won the last four meetings, including a 67-65 victory in Hammond back on Jan. 11.

Hamilton hit a put back at the buzzer to give Nicholls the road victory in last month's meeting. Ezechukwu led the Colonels with 23 points and was joined in double figures by Johnson (21 points) and Williams (14 points). Sterling (18 points), Carrier (15 points) and Francis (15 points) led the Lady Lions in scoring in the loss.

Up Next
Southeastern will conclude its three-game road swing on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. contest at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
