RIVERSIDE, Calif.  – Following Monday's loss to LSU, the Southeastern men's basketball team has little time to recover as they make the 1800-mile trip to face California Baptist University Wednesday night at 9 p.m. CT at the CBU Events Center.

After losses to Purdue Fort Wayne, UAB and LSU, the Lions (0-3) will play their fourth and fifth straight road games of the season when they take on CBU Wednesday night and also Friday at 4 p.m. CT.

Southeastern looks to find some momentum offensively as they are shooting 59-for-193 (30 percent) from field through the first three games including 10-for-78 (12 percent) from the three-point line.

While the numbers don't tell a good story for SLU, the positives have been visible for the Lions through the first three games. In the season opener, despite shooting 1-for-28 from the three-point line, SLU took Purdue Fort Wayne to overtime and had a one-point lead with 12 seconds to go in the extra period before falling, 67-63.

Saturday at UAB, The Lions outscored the Blazers in the second, 42-41, and were tied at 11-11 halfway through the first half before UAB exploded on a 32-6 run to end the half.

Senior Keon Clergeot (6-1, 190, G) continues to be a bright spot for the Lions early in the season. The UMass transfer scored 17 points against LSU Monday night and leads the team in rebounding, assists and steals through three contests.

The Lancers (0-1) nearly pulled off an upset in the season opener against USC before falling, 95-87, in overtime. CBU got 32 points from junior Ty Rowell including nine three-pointers as the Lancers had USC on the ropes leading, 79-74, with 1:59 left. The Trojans went on to score the final five points of regulation to send the game to overtime before picking up the win.

Wednesday marks the second meeting in history between the Lions and Lancers. The two met Dec. 17, 2018 at the University Center in Hammond with CBU winning 73-52. The Lancers shot 67 percent (16-for-24) in the second half to pull away for the win.
