HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will open a three-game road swing on Saturday, traveling to Abilene Christian for a 4:30 p.m. Southland Conference contest.
The game between the Lady Lions (5-10, 2-4 Southland) and the visiting Wildcats (12-2, 4-1 Southland) will be televised on ESPN+. The contest will also be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at

The Lady Lions will be looking to bounce back from a narrow 67-65 loss to Nicholls last Saturday. The Colonels won thanks to a game-winning put back by Airi Hamilton at the buzzer.
Celica Sterling led SLU with 18 points in the loss to the Colonels. She was joined in double figures by
Jyar Francis and
Morgan Carrier, who each scored 15 points.
Sterling is currently sixth in the Southland with 13.7 points per game, while Francis (11.5 ppg, 17
th) joins her on the league leaderboard.
Alexius Horne (9.2 ppg), Carrier (7.9 ppg) and
Charliee Dugas (7.0 ppg) round out the top scorers, while Horne is also sixth in the conference with 2.9 assists per contest.
Sterling (2.1, 7
th) and Carrier (1.5, 14
th) are both among the league leaders in three-point field goals per game. Carrier is connecting on 46.0 percent (23-for-50) of her attempts from behind the arc.
As the second half of the season opens, Southeastern will need to improve its rebounding performance, as the Lady Lions enter Saturday's contest with a minus-5.6 rebounding margin.
Caitlyn Williams leads the team and ranks 16
th in the Southland with 5.7 rebounds per game.
Opponents are averaging 67.7 points and 18.5 turnovers per game versus Southeastern. Horne (2.0 spg) and Williams (13) are both currently ninth in steals and blocked shots.
Abilene Christian is coming off a loss in its last outing as well. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi snapped an eight-game ACU winning streak with a 70-58 victory last Saturday.
The Wildcats are averaging a league-best 84.4 points per game. Dominique Golightly (15.2 ppg) and Breanna Wright (15.0 ppg) occupy the top two spots on the Southland Conference individual scoring leaderboard, while Anna McLeod (10.7 ppg) and Lexie Ducat (10.4 ppg) join them in double figures.
Wright also leads the Southland with 5.1 assists per game. Ducat (5.8 rpg, 13
th) and Wright (5.6 rpg, 17
th) are the top rebounders for ACU and both sit on the Southland leaderboard.
Southeastern is 3-8 all-time versus Abilene Christian. Last season, the two teams split with each winning on their respective home court. SLU is looking to earn its first-ever win in Abilene.
