Lady Lions Finish off Lamar for Perfect Week in Conference

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana finished off a perfect week in Southland Conference volleyball action with a four-set win Saturday over Lamar, 25-18, 25-18, 24-26, 25-23, at the University Center.

The Lady Lions (7-9, 2-1 Southland) won back-to-back conference matches for the first time since October 15-18, 2016, and have a winning conference record after multiple Southland matches for the first time since Oct. 17, 2015.

In the opening set, Southeastern came roaring back after the Cardinals (5-7, 0-2 Southland) scored the first three points. The Lady Lions built a match-high nine-point advantage, 19-10, before finishing out the set with a Jodi Edo kill.

Southeastern ran out to an early eight-point advantage in the second set, 11-3, building on the momentum from the opener. The Cardinals quietly scratched back within five, 12-7, on a service ace, but the Lady Lions responded by padding their lead once again.

Lamar took advantage of the Lady Lions' offensive struggles in the third set, claiming the back-and-forth contest to avoid the sweep.

The Lady Lions jumped back out to a commanding lead in the fourth and final set, 17-10, before Lamar rallied to pull within one, 22-21. Edo came up clutch once again, putting a way the match with her 14th kill.

Edo and Caroline Golden (11) reached double figures in kills to pace Southeastern's offense and Baylee Laskoskie, a freshman from Spring, Texas, handed out 39 assists. Jolie Hidalgo (3), Golden (2), Eryn Wilks (2) and Laskoskie (1) each served up aces.

Karlee Wilkerson, a sophomore from Springfield, Louisiana, led all players with seven total blocks and Edo contributed six. The Lady Lions posted nine team blocks, following up Thursday's season-high 13 against McNeese.

Alexis Pratt (18), Lizzy Low (11) and Jolie Hidalgo (10) all contributed double-digit digs.
