Lions Host Tulane for Pack the Pat

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana returns home for the annual Pack the Pat promotion, hosting Tulane at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
 
A slew of festivities are planned, including fireworks, free t-shirts and food for students (while supplies last), and a ticket special allowing fans the opportunity to purchase a pair of tickets for just $14.
 
The game between Southeastern (16-16) and the Green Wave (21-11) is also a Cane's Challenge. If the Lions score five or more runs versus Tulane, fans can redeem their game ticket or student coupon at their local participating Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers to receive a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value.
 
Tuesday's game can be heard in the Hammond area on the flagship station of the Southeastern Sports Radio Network, KSLU 90.9 FM, online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive and via both the Lions Gameday Experience and TuneIn Radio apps. Fans can also keep up with all the action through streaming video ($), live statistics or by following @SLUathletics on Twitter. Southeastern took 2-of-3 games in Southland Conference action at New Orleans this past weekend, claiming the Pontchartrain Bowl for the fourth time in five seasons.
 
The Lions are hitting .253 collectively, with 41 doubles, 11 triples, 23 home runs and 61 stolen bases. Southeastern's pitching staff has worked to a combined 4.72 ERA, striking out 266 batters in 282 innings. Opponents are hitting .253 off Lion pitching.
 
Kyle Schimpf (.309), Nick Ray (.308), Cody Grosse (.294) and Trey Harrington (.292) pace the Southeastern offensive attack. Ray, Schimpf and Preston Faulkner are all tied for the team lead in home runs with five apiece. Ray and Schimpf have also driven in a team-high 27 runs each. Grosse leads the Southland with 19 stolen bases.
 
Neither team has announced a starting pitcher for Tuesday's game.
 
Kody Hoese paces Tulane with a .403 average and 40 RBIs. He also leads the nation with 16 home runs. Other top hitters for the Green Wave include Hudson Haskin (.356), Frankie Niemann (.354) and Trevor Jensen (.340). Jonathan Artigues owns a team-high six stolen bases.
 
The Green Wave ranks fifth nationally in both doubles and home runs, generating 263 runs (ninth nationally). They are hitting a combined .301, with 77 doubles, 12 triples, 47 home runs and 24 stolen bases. Tulane's pitching staff has worked to a 4.66 ERA so far under former Lion pitching coach Daniel Latham, striking out 295 batters in 290 innings. Opponents are hitting .240 off Green Wave pitching.
 
Tulane took also 2-of-3 at home this past weekend against Wichita State.
 
In the middle of a 14-game stretch against in-state competition, Southeastern returns to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field this weekend to host Northwestern State. The conference series against the Demons features Super Lion Saturday and another Local Hero Appreciation game.
 
TICKET INFORMATION
Single-game tickets can be purchased online at www.LionSports.net/Tickets or by contacting the Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office at (985) 549-5466. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays. The ticket booth at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field opens exactly one hour before first pitch.

General Admission tickets for Lion home games are $9 for adults and $6 for children (ages 3-12). Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid university ID card.
 
CLEAR BAG POLICY
Southeastern Athletics has instituted a clear bag policy for all ticketed events, effective with the start of the 2018 fall semester. The policy mirrors safety precautions taken upon entrance to professional and collegiate sporting venues throughout the country. ALUMNI REUNION
Southeastern Baseball and the Lion Athletics Association are hosting a baseball alumni reunion in conjunction with the Super Lion Saturday game against Northwestern State this coming weekend.
 
All Lion baseball alums are invited back for the game and those in attendance will be honored on the field. Alumni interested in attending are encouraged to contact Mary Hannah Prevot with the LAA at (985) 549-5091 for more information.
 
LIONS GAMEDAY EXPERIENCE APP
The new Lions Gameday Experience app puts audio, stats, video, social media and more in the hands of fans. Those in attendance can also check in to earn reward points redeemable for Southeastern-related prizes. Available for both Android and iOS devices, it can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
 
DIAMOND CLUB / S CLUB
Fans interested in becoming active supporters of the baseball program are encouraged to join the Diamond Club. Lion baseball alums are encouraged to join the exclusive S Club, which is restricted to Southeastern athletic letter winners.
 
All membership fees and donations to both the Diamond Club and S Club (baseball) are available for the exclusive use of the Southeastern baseball program.
