Lions Host McNeese in Nonconference Matchup

Southeastern faculty & staff eligible for two free tickets to game

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana returns home Wednesday to host McNeese in a nonconference matchup for Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
 
Southeastern faculty and staff are eligible to receive two (2) complimentary tickets to the game. University employees are encouraged to pick up their tickets (University ID card required) from the Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office earlier in the day to avoid long lines at the ticket booth.
 
The game is also a Cane's Challenge contest. If the Lions (24-20) score five or more runs versus the Cowboys (23-21), fans will be able to redeem their game ticket or student coupon at their local participating Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers to receive a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value.
 
Cox Sports TV is slated to televise Wednesday's game. The broadcast is available outside of CST's coverage area on ESPN+. In addition to a web broadcast, fans may use the ESPN app to watch Wednesday's game on their favorite mobile, tablet or smart TV device. The ESPN app is available from both the Apple Store and Android Market, in addition to versions for Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Android TV and Roku.
 
Wednesday's nonconference game can be heard in the Hammond area on the flagship station of the Southeastern Sports Radio Network, KSLU 90.9 FM, online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive and via both the Lions Gameday Experience and TuneIn Radio apps.

Southeastern, which had its four-game winning streak snapped Sunday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, is tied for first place in the Southland Conference standings. Since March 17, the Lions are 10 games over .500 (18-8).
 
The Lions are hitting .257 collectively, with 64 doubles, 14 triples, 33 home runs and 76 stolen bases. Southeastern's pitching staff has worked to a combined 4.30 ERA, striking out 373 batters in 387 innings. Opponents are hitting .246 off Lion pitching.
 
Cody Grosse (.302), Preston Faulkner (.298), Trey Harrington (.284) and Kyle Schimpf (.284) key Southeastern's approach at the plate. Faulkner and Schimpf are tied for the team lead with seven home runs apiece. Schimpf's 41 RBIs rank third in the Southland. Grosse tops the conference with 23 stolen bases.
 
Trey Shaffer (1-2, 6.35), a sophomore left-hander from Biloxi, Mississippi, draws the starting nod for the Lions on the mound, opposing McNeese senior right-hander Zach Rider (0-0, 5.82).
 
Jake Dickerson (.331), Nate Fisbeck (.298), Payton Harden (.292) and Clayton Rasbeary (.291) are the Cowboys' top hitters. Fisbeck and Carson Maxwell are tied for the team lead with nine home runs apiece. Maxwell also owns a team-leading 36 RBIs. Reid Bourque (18 steals) is one of three McNeese players with double-digit stolen bases.
 
The Cowboys are hitting .273 as a team, with 78 doubles, nine triples and 39 home runs. Their 76 stolen bases are tied with Southeastern for the most in the Southland. McNeese's pitching staff has worked to a combined 4.76 ERA, striking out 383 batters in 396.2 innings. Opponents are hitting .249 off Cowboy pitching.
 
McNeese is coming off a series victory at Abilene Christian, taking the final two games from the Wildcats in Southland action.
 
Southeastern returns to the road this weekend, traveling to Beaumont, Texas, for a three-game Southland Conference series at Lamar. Game times are set for 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Vincent-Beck Stadium.
 
TICKET INFORMATION
Single-game tickets can be purchased online at www.LionSports.net/Tickets or by contacting the Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office at (985) 549-5466. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays. The ticket booth at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field opens exactly one hour before first pitch.

General Admission tickets for Lion home games are $9 for adults and $6 for children (ages 3-12). Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid university ID card.
 
CLEAR BAG POLICY
Southeastern Athletics has instituted a clear bag policy for all ticketed events, effective with the start of the 2018 fall semester. The policy mirrors safety precautions taken upon entrance to professional and collegiate sporting venues throughout the country. Fans interested in becoming active supporters of the baseball program are encouraged to join the Diamond Club. Lion baseball alums are encouraged to join the exclusive S Club, which is restricted to Southeastern athletic letter winners.
