HAMMOND, La.  – The Southeastern Louisiana men's golf team will compete in the Southland Conference Championships, while the baseball, softball and track teams will also be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The Lion men's golf team will compete in the conference tournament, which runs Monday through Wednesday at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney, Texas. Live scoring will be available at www.Southland.org and the winner will receive an automatic berth in next month's NCAA Championships.
 
The SLU baseball team (21-19, 12-6 Southland) looks to continue its climb up the league standings when it hits the road this week. On Tuesday, Southeastern takes a break from Southland play when it travels to Tulane for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
 
The Lions then open up a three-game conference series at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday with a 6 p.m. contest. The series continues on Saturday at 4 p.m. and concludes with Sunday's 1 p.m. contest.
 
The Southeastern softball team (28-18, 14-7 Southland) closes out its non-conference slate on Tuesday with a 3 p.m. contest at Southern. SLU then returns home to host McNeese for a three-game Southland series. The set opens with a 5 p.m. contest on Friday, before the Lady Lions close the home portion of their 2019 schedule with a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
 
Every home Saturday is Local Heroes Appreciation at North Oak Park, as all first responders, service members and military personnel will receive a discounted ticket with a valid ID.
 
All of this week's baseball games will air in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the TuneIn Radio and Lions Game Day Experience apps. The Southeastern men's and women's track and field teams will finish up its preparations for next week's Southland Conference Outdoor Championships. The Lions and Lady Lions will participate in the Southern Miss Open on Friday and Saturday in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
 
The latest episode of Inside Southeastern Baseball with Matt Riser is set for Monday at noon from Blackened Brew, located at 112 W. Thomas St. in downtown Hammond. Riser joins host Allen Waddell at lunchtime every Monday during the regular season for the 60-minute radio show, talking the latest in Southeastern baseball. Each week, one of the Lion players will also join the duo.
