Lions Travel to McNeese for Nonconference Matchup

LAKE CHARLES, La. – Southeastern Louisiana travels to Southland Conference-foe McNeese for a nonconference matchup at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Joe Miller Ballpark.
 
Rotating off each other's conference schedule this season, and next, the Lions (18-18) and McNeese (19-17) agreed to continue their rivalry with a pair of nonconference games in 2019. The Cowboys will return the trip, May 1, traveling to Southeastern for a midweek contest.
 
Tuesday's game can be heard in the Hammond area on the flagship station of the Southeastern Sports Radio Network, KSLU 90.9 FM, online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive and via both the Lions Gameday Experience and TuneIn Radio apps.

The Lions split four games this past week, dropping a 15-14 decision Tuesday to Tulane and then winning 2-of-3 against Northwestern State in Southland action.
 
Southeastern is hitting .253 collectively, with 46 doubles, 12 triples, 26 home runs and 69 stolen bases. The Lion pitching staff has worked to a combined 4.81 ERA, striking out 308 batters in 318 innings. Opponents are hitting .256 off Southeastern pitching.
 
Cody Grosse (.300), Kyle Schimpf (.300), Nick Ray (.289) and Preston Faulkner (.278) pace the Southeastern offensive attack. Faulkner and Schimpf are tied for the team lead with six home runs each, while Schimpf has driven in a team-high 34 runs. Grosse leads the Southland with 21 stolen bases.
 
The Lions are slated to start junior left-hander Nick Flesher (0-0, 11.37), countering McNeese senior right-hander Cayne Ueckert (1-2, 5.92) on the mound.
 
Nate Fisbeck (.312), Jake Dickerson (.310) and Shane Selman (.308) are the Cowboys' leading hitters. Fisbeck has a team-high eight home runs and Carson Maxwell leads the squad with 31 RBI. Reid Bourque ranks second in the Southland with 15 stolen bases.
 
McNeese is hitting .276 collectively, with 65 doubles, eight triples, 31 home runs and 59 stolen bases. The Cowboy pitching staff has worked to a combined 4.57 ERA, striking out 324 batters in 326.2 innings. Opponents are hitting .245 off McNeese pitching.
 
The Cowboys won 3-of-4 games this past week, topping UL Lafayette, 6-3, Tuesday on the road and then taking a pair in conference play at home against New Orleans.
 
Southeastern returns home Thursday and Friday to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field, hosting Nicholls in the first two games of a conference series at 6 p.m. The series opener is a Cane's Challenge. If the Lions score five or more runs, all fans in attendance can redeem their game ticket or student coupon at their local participating Raising Cane's to receive a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value.
 
Following Thursday's game, the Easter Egg Hunt presented by Party Barn, originally scheduled for Super Lion Saturday, will be held at the ballpark.
 
TICKET INFORMATION
Single-game tickets can be purchased online at www.LionSports.net/Tickets or by contacting the Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office at (985) 549-5466. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays. The ticket booth at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field opens exactly one hour before first pitch.

General Admission tickets for Lion home games are $9 for adults and $6 for children (ages 3-12). Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid university ID card.
 
CLEAR BAG POLICY
Southeastern Athletics has instituted a clear bag policy for all ticketed events, effective with the start of the 2018 fall semester. The policy mirrors safety precautions taken upon entrance to professional and collegiate sporting venues throughout the country.
