HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will finish out the 2018-19 season on Saturday, facing Nicholls in a 1 p.m. league contest in Thibodaux.

The Lady Lions (9-19, 4-13 Southland) will look to snap a seven-game losing streak on Saturday. The host Colonels (19-10, 13-4 Southland) have clinched a bye in next week's Southland Conference Tournament and can lock down the No. 3 seed with a win on Saturday.

Four of the seven losses during SLU's current skid have come by five points or less, including a 46-45 loss to New Orleans on Wednesday. In the final seconds, Jaclyn Scholvin's potential game-tying free throw missed the mark to allow the Privateers to clinch a postseason berth.

In the loss to UNO, Scholvin led the Lady Lions with 13 points and was joined in double figures by Celica Sterling, who netted 10 points. Sterling and Kyla Williams each had five rebounds on Wednesday, while Scholvin and Charliee Dugas contributed four assists each. Tyler Morrison led SLU with four steals.

Ultimately, the Lady Lions' offensive struggles were too much for them to overcome in 2018-19. SLU is averaging 57.1 points per game behind Sterling (13.7 ppg), Dugas (10.7 ppg) and Scholvin (9.9 ppg). Scholvin and Morrison share the team lead with 83 assists each with Morrison ranking seventh in the league in assists per game.

Sterling has done much of her damage from behind the arc, as the Baton Rouge, Louisiana native is third in the league with 60 three-point field goals. Ashailee Brailey heads into her final game in a Lady Lion uniform ranked eighth in school history with 101 made threes.

The Lady Lions go into the final game of the year with a minus-6.8 rebounding margin. Caitlyn Williams is seventh in the league with 6.6 rebounds per contest.

Opponents are scoring 65.1 points and committing 17.7 turnovers per contest versus Southeastern. Scholvin (15th) and Morrison (11th) both rank in the top 15 in steals per game. Caitlyn Williams leads SLU with 21 blocked shots.

Nicholls will be protecting a six-game winning streak when the Lady Lions come to town. The Colonels are led by the league leader in scoring and rebounding, Cassidy Barrios. Barrios is the only Southland player averaging a double-double with her league-high totals of 20.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per contest.

Barrios also ranks fifth in the Southland in assists (4.3) and steals (2.1) per contest. Tykeria Williams is second on the team with 10.7 points per game.

Southeastern is 58-24 all-time versus Nicholls, though the Colonels have won five of the last six meetings. Back on Feb. 2, the Colonels rallied from a 12-point deficit to defeat SLU, 73-66, in overtime.

Barrios led the Colonels in the first meeting with 23 points and 16 rebounds, while Tykeria Williams and Chrystal Ezechukwu chipped in with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Dugas and Morgan Carrier paced SLU with 15 points, while Sterling added 10 points in the first SLU-Nicholls tilt. Morrison dished out six assists and grabbed 10 boards for the Lady Lions.
