HAMMOND, La.  – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team opens the 2019 season, the basketball, tennis and track teams continue their campaigns, while Southeastern Athletics hosts the Football Signing Day Bash and Season Ticket Appreciation event during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The SLU softball team will host Lion Classic I in North Oak Park. Prior to the tournament's start, the Lady Lions will welcome San Jose State on Thursday for the 5 p.m. season opener. On Friday, the tournament officially opens with SLU hosting Southern Illinois at 3 p.m. and Northern Illinois at 5 p.m.
 
SLU takes on Northern Illinois at 1 p.m. and Mississippi Valley State at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, Southeastern closes the tournament with a noon contest versus MVSU. LionVision subscribers will be able to access a live video stream (no audio) of this week's softball tournament at www.LionSports.net/watch.
 
The Southeastern men's basketball team (9-13, 5-4 Southland) has won five of six games heading into this week's action, as the Lions head on the road this week. On Wednesday, SLU travels to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a 7 p.m. contest. Southeastern will then make the trek to Conway, Arkansas to face Central Arkansas at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
 
The women's basketball team (8-12, 3-6 Southland) will open the week at home, hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a 7 p.m. contest on Wednesday in the University Center. On Saturday, SLU heads to UCA for a 2 p.m. contest in Conway, Arkansas.
 
General admission tickets will be priced at $4 on Wednesday in honor of National Women in Sports Day. The first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring Charliee Dugas, Wednesday's Spotlight Player of the Game, courtesy of PRIDE.
 
Wednesday is also a Cane's Challenge game. If the Lady Lions score 50 or more points versus the Islanders, fans can redeem their game ticket of student coupon at their local participating Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers to receive a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value.
 
Wednesday's women's game will be televised by the Southeastern Channel on a tape delay and the game will be streamed on the Southland Digital Network at www.Southland.org/live and via the Southland apps available for iPhone, Android, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku. Both of this week's men's basketball games and Saturday's women's basketball contest can be heard live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the Lions Game Day Experience, RadioFX and TuneIn Radio apps.
 
The SLU tennis team (2-1) continues its spring schedule this week. The Lions head to UL Lafayette for a 4 p.m. match on Friday.
 
Members of the Southeastern track and field teams will compete in two different meets on Friday and Saturday. Some Lions and Lady Lions will be at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, while other team members will be in Boston, Massachusetts for a David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
 
The Southeastern Louisiana football program, in conjunction with the Lion Athletics Association (LAA), will hold its Annual Signing Day Bash on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at The Mezzanine in downtown Hammond.
 
The event is scheduled to run through 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for SLU students and children ages 12 and under. The Mezzanine is located on 308 South Cate Street in Hammond. Dinner and a cash bar will be available, as second-year SLU head football coach Frank Scelfo and his staff will unveil the 2019 Lion football signing class.   
 
In conjunction with the event, the Southeastern Football broadcast crew will host a live radio remote from 5:30-6:30 p.m. that will air on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and WFPR 1400 AM/103.7 FM. Following the show, Scelfo and his staff will address those in attendance about the newest Lions.

With the baseball and softball seasons approaching, Southeastern Louisiana Athletics invites fans to a Season Ticket Appreciation event Monday in the Victory Club at Strawberry Stadium.
 
An exclusive event open to 2019 baseball and softball season ticket holders only, doors open at 5:30 p.m. for season ticket pickup and light refreshments. Fans wishing to purchase season tickets will have an opportunity to do so before entering the event.

The latest episode of Inside Southeastern Basketball with Jay Ladner, hosted by Ladner and Allen Waddell is set for Monday at 7 p.m. The hour-long radio show will air weekly from Rainbow Daiquiris, located at 14384 West Thomas Street. The show will be held each Monday through March 4.
 
The show will air on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (KSLU-FM (90.9), Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and WFPR 1400 AM/103.7 FM). Fans can also listen live at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the Radio FX and TuneIn Radio apps.
