Greenwood Scores 26, But Lions Fall

NEW ORLEANS, La – Moses Greenwood scored 26 points but it wasn't enough as the Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team lost to UNO, 89-68, Wednesday night at Lakefront Arena.

The Lions (13-14, 9-5 Southland) had their five-game road winning streak and five-game overall winning streak snapped at the hands of the Privateers.

The Privateers, however, hit 14 three-pointers (14-for-23 for 61 percent) and shot 29-for-48 (60 percent) for the game to take sole possession of third place. The Privateers improved to 12-2 at home this year.

Greenwood, the Sharon, Mississippi native, led all scorers and shot 11-for-15 from the field, snatched six rebounds and took three charges. Marlain Veal added 11 points and five assists for SLU.

SLU, despite the loss, outrebounded the Privateers, 35-34, including an astounding 21 offensive rebounds and had just 11 turnovers. However, the Lions shot 25-for-65 (38 percent) from the field and just 4-for-21 (19 percent) from the three-point line.

UNO opened the game on fire from the three-point line hitting 5-for-7 in the first eight minutes to take a 22-9 lead. The Lions battled back to cut the Privateers' lead to 31-25 with 3:43 to go in the first half. UNO retook a 13-point lead at halftime, 44-31.

The Privateers opened the second half on a 7-0 run to take a 51-31 lead and never looked back.
