Greenwood Dominates, Lions Bounce Back with Win at ACU

Moses Greenwood Scored 27 Points and 11 Rebounds for 11th Double-Double

ABILENE, Texas – Moses Greenwood scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team to a 75-66 win over Abilene Christian at Moody Coliseum Saturday.

The Lions (14-14, 10-5 Southland) have won 10 of their last 12 games as they are fourth in the conference standings with three games remaining. SLU also has clinched a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament, Mar. 13-17 in Katy, Texas.

Greenwood, the Sharon, Mississippi native, shot 12-for-16 (75 percent) from the field while recording his 11th double-double of the season. The senior passed Don Wilson (1,398 points) for fourth all-time as the Velma Jackson grad now has 1,412 career points.

Kajon Brown added a season-high 13 points and seven rebounds. Junior Von Julien scored 12 points with seven assists while playing all 40 minutes. Marlain added 10 points to become the Lions' second all-time leading scorer. The senior from New Orleans, Louisiana passed Hank Washington (1,585 points). The Helen Cox grad has scored 1,587 points for his career.

The Lions outrebounded the Wildcats, 44-26, including 17 offensive rebounds. SLU also shot 17-for-23 from the free throw line.

ACU (21-6, 10-4 Southland) dropped to 11-2 at home this season. The Wildcats were led by Hayden Farquhar with 16 points while Jaylen Franklin had 15.

Southeastern opened the game on a 19-9 run before the Wildcats battled back to take a 22-21 lead. That was the only time ACU led as the Lions finished the half on a 23-7 run to lead 44-29 at halftime.

The Lions weathered a couple of storm in the second half as Abilene Christian cut the lead to seven twice. But SLU continued to feed Greenwood in the post as the Lions get the Wildcats at bay.

With the win, SLU clinched a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament beginning Wednesday, Mar. 13 at the Merrill Center in Katy, Texas.

The Lions have just three games remaining in the regular season. After a bye Wednesday, SLU will host Northwestern State (10-17, 5-9 Southland) Saturday, Mar. 2. Southeastern will, then, get a rematch with UNO Wednesday Mar. 6 at the University Center before wrapping up the regular season at Nicholls (11-15, 4-9 Southland) Saturday, Mar. 9
