NEW ORLEANS, La –
The reigning Southland Conference Champion Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team heads to the Crescent City Wednesday night to face the University of New Orleans at 7 p.m. at Lakefront Arena.

The Lions (13-13, 9-4 Southland) are tied with UNO (14-10, 9-4 Southland) for third place in the Southland Conference standings going into Wednesday night's matchup. Southeastern also boasts the second-ranked defense during Southland Conference play allowing just 65.1 points per game trailing only Sam Houston State (64.8).

SLU is led by senior Marlain Veal in scoring (16.4 ppg). The New Orleans, Louisiana native is the all-time program leader in assists (554), steals (204) and games played (124). The Helen Cox grad is also third all-time in program scoring history with 1,566 points, just 20 shy of passing Hank Washington for second.

While Veal has been spectacular, the heartbeat for the Lions this season has been the steady play of senior Moses Greenwood. The Sharon, Mississippi native is averaging 16.0 points (7th in the Southland), 7.6 rebounds (4th in Southland) and 1.2 blocks (5th in Southland) per game.

Greenwood, like Veal, has put together an impressive resume in his SLU career. The 6-7, 220-pound forward is second all-time in games played (123) and field goals made (550), third in blocked shots (100), fifth in scoring (1,359) and sixth in rebounding (714).

Southeastern is sizzling hot winning nine of their last 10 games including a record-setting win over McNeese, 88-52, Saturday afternoon at the University Center. During the 10-game stretch, the Lions are outrebounding their opponents 344-266 and lead the Southland in rebounding margin (+6.9),

SLU's 9-1 stretch is the best 10-game stretch since the 2004-2005 season when SLU and head coach Bill Kennedy went 10-1 from Jan. 3-Feb. 10. The Lions went on to win the Southland Conference Tournament before falling to Oklahoma State in the first round.

The Lions' 36-point win over McNeese was the largest margin of victory for the Lions against a Southland Conference opponent in program history. The Lions also knocked down 16 three-pointers, one shy of the all-time SLU record of 17 (Feb. 14, 1991 vs. Southern).

Southeastern has been road warriors through the last month of the season winning five straight away from the University Center defeating McNeese, Houston Baptist, Northwestern State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Central Arkansas on the road.

UNO, however, has been terrific at home this year. The Privateers are 11-2 at Lakefront Arena with their only losses coming to UL Lafayette, 73-67 in overtime and Nicholls, 64-63. The Privateers are coming off a 68-58 win over A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday.

The Privateers are led by senior guard Ezekiel Charles (6-4, 205). The Brooklyn, New York native leads UNO in scoring (12.9) and rebounding (6.0).

The Privateers also have a long-range threat in Bryson Robinson. The junior from Mesquite, Texas, is second on the team in scoring (10.5) and leads the team in three-pointers made (46).

Wednesday's game can be heard live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the Lions Game Day Experience, Radio FX and TuneIn Radio apps.

After Wednesday's showdown with UNO, the Lions will head to Abilene, Texas to face Abilene Christian (21-5, 10-3 Southland) Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
