Allen Garners AFCA Coaches All-America Honors

Senior left tackle keyed high-powered Lion offense

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana senior offensive lineman Pat Allen is the latest Lion to receive postseason accolades, as he was named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) FCS Coaches' All-America Teams announced the AFCA on Friday.

Allen, a second team selection, is the third Southeastern student-athlete to receive postseason recognition this week. Sophomore defensive back Ferlando Jordan was named third team All-America by HERO Sports, the Associated Press and STATS. Jordan and defensive end Josh Carr Jr. represented SLU on the HERO Sports Sophomore All-American squad.

Allen is the first Lion offensive lineman to garner All-America honors since Taylor Gadbois was a second team Associated Press choice in 2016.

In his second year after transferring from Georgia, Allen started every game at left tackle for a high-powered SLU offense. The first team All-Southland Conference performer from Reisertown, Maryland helped the Lions lead the league and rank among the FCS national leaders in passing offense (354.4 ypg, 2nd in the FCS), scoring offense (36.6 ppg, 11th) and total offense (484.8 ypg, 2nd).

Allen was the lone second team and one of just four Southland Conference selections on the AFCA FCS Coaches All-America Team. Nicholls senior defensive lineman Sully Laiche, Houston Baptist senior defensive lineman Houston Baptist and Central Arkansas junior defensive back Robert Rochell.
