Jordan Represents SLU on Hero Sports All-America Team

Sophomore finished with five interceptions and three pick sixes in 2019

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana sophomore defensive back Ferlando Jordan was named to the Hero Sports FCS All-America Team, which was released on Monday.

Jordan was a third-team selection and was one of seven Southland Conference student-athletes named to the team. Jordan's selection marks the eighth consecutive season the Lions have had at least one All-America selection.

A first team All-Southland Conference selection, Jordan established himself as one of the league's top corners in a breakout sophomore campaign. The Atlanta, Georgia native shared the conference lead with five interceptions – a single-season school record three of which he returned for touchdowns. The dynamic playmaker also led SLU with eight pass breakups.

Jordan was one of seven Southland Conference student-athletes to be recognized by Hero Sports on their All-America teams. Nicholls senior defensive lineman Sully Laiche was the lone first team selection from the league. Nicholls junior offensive lineman PJ Burkhalter and Houston Baptist senior defensive lineman Andre Walker were second team choices.

Jordan was joined on the third team by Abilene Christian senior linebacker Jeremiah Chambers, Nicholls senior linebacker Allen Pittman and Houston Baptist senior kick returner Gamar Brito.

Since the program returned in 2003, Jordan is the fourth Lion defensive back to earn All-America honors, joining SLU Athletics Hall of Famers Tommy Connors and Robert Alford, as well as Harlan Miller.
