HAMMOND, La. – Jodi Edo led all players in kills and blocks as Southeastern Louisiana swept past New Orleans in Southland Conference action Tuesday, 26-24, 25-9, 25-21, at the University Center.
The Lady Lions (12-13, 6-5 Southland), who sit in sixth place in the conference standings, moved two games up on UNO (11-14, 4-7 Southland) with five matches left in the regular season.
After holding off the Privateers in a tight opening set, Southeastern took advantage of several unforced errors by UNO to build an insurmountable lead in the second. The Lady Lions jumped up 14-1 as junior
Ryan Maddera served up 12-consecutive points.
UNO's nine points in the second set are the second-fewest allowed by the Lady Lions in a single set this season. Southeastern, which has held conference opponents to the fourth-lowest attack percentage in the Southland, forced the Privateers into a negative average (-.280) in the set.
With nine kills and five blocks, Edo now ranks second in solo blocks and fourth in total blocks. The senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana also ranks fourth in attack percentage.
Sam Gomez, a junior from Mandeville, Louisiana, added eight kills and three blocks for the Lady Lions.
Karlee Wilkerson, a sophomore from Springfield, Louisiana, chipped in seven kills and a pair of blocks.
Baylee Laskoskie dished out 33 assists and
Lizzy Low served up a pair of aces.
Alexis Pratt and
Caroline Golden both led the team with nine digs apiece.
