HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana women's soccer team fell to Sam Houston State Friday night at Pritchett Field, 2-0, despite outshooting the Bearkats 10-8.

SHSU (6-7-1, 4-2-1 Southland) got on the board in the 21
st minute. Sam Houston's Alyssa Austin got free down the middle of the field and scored on an assist from Rachel Downey.

The Bearkats scored their second goal in the 54
th minute when Caitlyn McDonald netted one from 40 yards out on a free kick.

The Lady Lions (2-11-1, 1-6-0 Southland) nearly got on the board in the 78
th minute. SLU's
Darby Gillette made a great cross in front of the net to
Hanna Moffatt. Moffatt, a freshman, made a great play to get in traffic for the header but her shot hit the post.

Southeastern goalkeeper
Sophie Wendt, a freshman making her second career start, had five saves.

Jada Ellis and
Megan Gordon each had two shots on goal to pace the Lady Lions.

Next up, SLU will take on Stephen F. Austin (6-8, 3-4 Southland) Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. with just four games remaining in the regular season. SFA defeated Nicholls Friday night at home, 6-0.
