HAMMOND, La. – Northwestern State fought off a late rally Thursday by Southeastern Louisiana, claiming a Southland Conference match in straight sets, 25-22, 25-15, 28-26, in front of a season-high 1,500 fans at the University Center.
The Lady Lions (8-11, 3-3 Southland) struggled offensively against Northwestern State (13-7, 5-1 Southland), posting their second-lowest attack percentage (.116) of the season.
Jodi Edo, a senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, led the Lady Lions with 12 kills and a pair of solo blocks.
Sam Gomez, a junior from Mandeville, Louisiana, chipped in 11 kills, a pair of block assists and led all players (with at least four attempts per set) with a .429 attack percentage.
Baylee Laskoskie handed out a match-high 33 assists and
Lizzy Low, a freshman from Lafayette, Louisiana, served up three aces.
Alexis Pratt led Southeastern with 11 digs and Low contributed 10 more to the defensive effort.

Southeastern steps outside of conference action for the final time in the regular season at 7 p.m. this coming Tuesday, hosting Southern in the annual Dig the Lions match at the University Center. The first 150 students to the match, Oct. 15, will receive free pulled pork sandwiches and chips sponsored by Mariner's Inn.
