HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana Athletics placed 81 student-athletes on the Southland Conference Commissioner's Fall 2018 Honor Roll, which was released by the league office on Thursday.
The league's 13 institutions placed just under 1,000 student-athletes on the Fall Honor Roll. To be included, student-athletes from the sports of football, soccer, cross country and volleyball must have posted a grade point average of 3.00 or above for the semester.
Southeastern's contingent was the fifth-largest among the league's schools. For the semester, 198 Lions and Lady Lions had a 3.0 GPA or higher in the fall semester, as SLU Athletics posted a combined 3.130 department-wide GPA for the semester – the highest in school history.
The SLU football team led the way with 34 student-athletes, while 22 Lady Lion soccer players were among those honored. Southeastern was fourth among cross country programs with 15 members on the honor roll, while the SLU volleyball program featured 10 representatives.
Central Arkansas led the Southland with 122 representatives, followed by Abilene Christian (108), UIW (104), Northwestern State (93) and SLU to round out the top five. The leaders were followed by Houston Baptist (79), McNeese (77), Sam Houston State (71), Stephen F. Austin (66), Nicholls (61), Lamar (57), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (45) and New Orleans (25).
