HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana split a pair of matches Saturday at Trojan Arena during the final day of action at the Troy Invitational, picking up its first win of the season.

The Lady Lions (1-2) bounced back after dropping the first set to Southern (0-3), taking the match in four sets, 18-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-19. In the final match, Troy (2-1) picked up the win in the straight sets, 25-16, 25-16, 25-9.

A streaky Southern squad claimed the first set, rattling off a pair of six-point streaks. The Lady Lions turned in their best offensive performance of the young season in the second set, rebounding to even the match with a .406 attack percentage.

The offense continued to click at an impressive clip in the third set, committing just a pair of errors for a .333 attack percentage. Southeastern's defense sealed the win, holding the Lady Jags to a negative attack percentage (-.023) in the final set.

Caroline Golden (Mandeville, Louisiana) led the Lady Lions with 16 kills and served up a pair of aces. Elyssa Purcell (Alvin, Texas) contributed 14 and sophomore Marisa Calvaruso (Denham Springs, Louisiana) added a career-high six kills.

Michelle Mirarchi (Plano, Texas) handed out 23 assists and Haley Baker (Elkton, Maryland) contributed another 18 as the duo split setting duties.

Alexis Pratt (Houston, Texas) led Southeastern with 21 digs, more than doubling her previous career best. Lexie Torres (San Antonio, Texas) was responsible for 16 more and Baker added eight digs.

Against Troy, the Lady Lion offense never got going and turned in a negative attack percentage (-.107) for the match.
