HAMMOND, La. – To increase public safety, Southeastern Louisiana Athletics will institute a clear bag policy for all ticketed athletic events, beginning with the 2018 football season.
The policy mirrors the safety precautions taken upon entrance to professional and collegiate sporting venues throughout the country. In addition to SLU home football games at Strawberry Stadium, the policy will also be enforced at men's and women's basketball games in the University Center, baseball games at Alumni Field and softball games at North Oak Park.
Approved items include plastic zip top bags (no larger than one gallon) that are re-sealable and clear, clear drawstring/cinch bags or clear totes (plastic, vinyl or PVC) that are no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, small clutch purses no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches and seat cushions with no pockets and no larger than 16 inches.
Fans can wear or carry items such as binoculars, hand-held electronic devices and cameras (with lenses shorter than four inches) without carrying cases.
Among the prohibited items are briefcases, backpacks, camera cases, purses, fanny packs, oversized tote bags, printed pattern plastic bags, mesh bags, reusable grocery totes, duffel bags and tinted or textured bags.
