Southeastern Closes Road Swing on Tuesday at ULM

Lady Lions, Warhawks meet at 6 p.m. in Monroe

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team will close out a four-game road trip on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. non-conference contest at ULM.
 
Live stats for the game, provided by the hosts, between the Lady Lions (20-14) and the host Warhawks (18-13) will be accessible on the softball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
 
SLU is coming off a three-game series at Lamar, which saw the Lady Lions drop two of three. A pair of narrow victories by the home team sandwiched a 7-0 shutout win for Southeastern in game two.
 
Southeastern carries a .283 team batting average coming into Tuesday's non-conference game. Sophomore Ali McCoy tops the team with a .339 batting average, followed by senior Alli Daigle (.329), senior Kinsey Nichols (.313), senior Maddie Edmonston (.310), junior Rebecca Skains (.308), senior Mahalia Gibson (.307) and sophomore Mattie Ort (.300). Edmonston leads the team and is fifth in the Southland with 25 runs, while junior Jaquelyn Ramon (22, 8th) and Gibson (21, 9th) joins her in the league's top 10.
 
Gibson is among the conference leaders in home runs (7, 4th), RBI (30, 3rd) and slugging percentage (.624, 4th), while she and Skains are tied for eighth in the Southland with a team-high seven doubles. SLU is also seventh in Division I with 14 triples, as McCoy, Daigle, Nichols, Skains and Gibson have two triples apiece.
 
The Lady Lions are also leading Division I with 3.15 stolen bases per game, as SLU has swiped 107 bags in 2018. Edmonson leads the Southland with 23 steals, followed by Nichols (18, 3rd) and Ramon (16, 5th).
 
Ramon's 102 career stolen bases are a school record and are the ninth-highest total among active Division I players. Nichols is second in school history with 74 stolen bases.
 
In the circle, SLU heads into Tuesday's game with a 3.16 team earned run average. Senior Rachel Hayes (7-6, 2.72 ERA, 2 saves), senior Lacey Hill (8-4, 3.54 ERA), sophomore Tanner Wright (4-1, 2.79 ERA) and sophomore Alley McDonald (1-3, 3.84 ERA) are the primary pitches for SLU.

The Lady Lion pitching staff will face a ULM squad that is hitting .329 as a team. Junior Sydney McKay (.414) and sophomore Jayden Mount (.402) have the team's best average, while sophomore Ana Hogan has a team-high four home runs. The Warhawks also have a 4.45 team earned run average behind senior ace Paige Murray (10-3, 3.45 ERA).
 
Following Tuesday's game, Southeastern will return home, hosting Houston Baptist for a three-game Southland series. The series opens with a 5 p.m. contest on Friday and a 12 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. Saturday will be both Senior Day and Alumni Day. Nichols, Gibson, Daigle, Edmonston, Hill, Hayes, Carlie Whittington, Grace DeLee and Peyton Sutton will be honored prior to the day's noon opener, while softball alumni in attendance will be honored between games. A 5 p.m. crawfish boil for softball alumni will he held following the doubleheader.
