HAMMOND, La. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will continue its eight-game road swing this week, traveling to face four-time reigning SLC regular season champion McNeese for a three-game Southland Conference series.
The series between the Lions (30-9, 12-0 SLC) and the host Cowgirls (23-13, 7-5 SLC), which features the only two mid-major programs in Division I to win 40 or more games each season from 2022-25, opens with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Thursday and concludes Friday at 1 p.m. This week's games will be televised on ESPN+.
Southeastern extend its school-record winning streak to 16 games with a three-game series sweep at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, while McNeese snapped a five-game skid with a three-game series sweep of UIW.
SLU is hitting .340 as a team heading into the series with the Cowgirls.
Shelby Morris continues to lead the team with a .415 batting average and holds team-high honors with 56 hits, 37 runs and four triples, while she and
Chloe Magee share the team lead with 16 stolen bases.

Cydnee Schneider (.362),
Brilee Ford (.354) and Magee (.345) comprise the top five hitters for average for SLU.
Maria Detillier (7 HR, 32 RBI) and Ford (5 HR, 28 RBI) are the team's top power threats, while Schneider has a league-best 13 doubles.
The Lion pitching staff leads Division I with 14 shutouts and is fourth nationally with a 1.74 earned run average.

Bre Clark (1-0, 0.58 ERA),
Katherine Thiessen (2-1, 1.75 ERA) and
Celia Lamkin (0-0, 3.50 ERA) have also contributed.
McNeese boasts a .309 team batting average with Nyjah Fontenot leading the team with a .375 batting average. The top six hitters for average for the Cowgirls all have four or more home runs. McNeese's pitching staff carries a 4.31 team earned run average heading into the series, as Brookelyn Taylor (8-5, 3.28 ERA, 4 saves), Kynlei Chapman (5-4, 4.27 ERA, 2 saves) and Maddie Taylor (7-3, 4.71 ERA, 1 save) have shared the majority of the innings in the circle for the Cowgirls.
Following the series, Southeastern will close out its road swing with a 5 p.m. contest at Southern Miss April 8. The SLU-USM matchup will be televised on ESPN+.
