HAMMOND, La. – After pitching the two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team to a pair of shutout victories, Cera Blanchard was named the SLC Pitcher of the Week in an announcement from the league office Monday.
 
Blanchard was honored for the first time this season and the second time in her Lion career. She joins teammates Hallie Burns and Maria Detillier as league weekly honorees this spring.
 
Blanchard finished with a 2-0 record and an 0.00 ERA in a 4-0 week that saw SLU (30-9, 12-0 SLC) extend its school-record winning streak to 16 games. She opened the week with four scoreless innings in a 3-0 win at ULM, before going the distance in a 4-0 victory at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Blanchard struck out nine Islanders and allowed two hits to help the Lions complete their fourth consecutive conference series sweep.
 
Blanchard has been a key member of a Southeastern pitching staff that currently is tied with Tennessee for the national lead with 14 shutouts, while ranking fifth nationally with a 1.71 team ERA. The Metairie, Louisiana native is 11-1 with a 1.07 ERA – the sixth-lowest in Division I – and has held opponents to a .180 batting average.
 
Blanchard and the Lions will continue its eight-game road swing this week, traveling to face four-time reigning SLC regular season champion McNeese for a three-game Southland Conference series. The set, which features the only two mid-major programs in Division I to win 40 or more games each season from 2022-25, opens with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Thursday and concludes Friday at 1 p.m. This week's games will be televised on ESPN+.
