Lions Set to Host Louisiana College

SLU Going for Seventh Straight Home Win

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team will look to bounce back after Tuesday's loss at Mississippi Valley State when they host Louisiana College Monday night at 7 p.m.
 
The Lions (2-4) return to the friendly confines of the University Center where they have won six in a row and eight of their last nine dating back to last season. Southeastern has won both it's home contests this season defeating William Carey in the home opener 78-57 Nov. 9 and surged past Stetson 69-57 Nov. 17.
 
Seniors Marlain Veal and Moses Greenwood have carried the majority of the scoring load through the first six games. Veal, the Pre-Season First Team All-Southland selection, is doing a little of everything for the Lions. The New Orleans, Louisiana native is averaging 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. Greenwood (Sharon, Mississippi) leads the team in scoring and rebounding averaging 14.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
 
While SLU hasn't hit their offensive surge yet, the Lions have been spectacular defensively holding their last three opponents (Texas Tech, Stetson, MVSU) to 38 percent shooting (63-for-162).
 
Monday marks the 51st meeting between SLU and LC. The Lions lead the all-time series 37-13 including a decisive win in their last match-up Nov. 20, 2012 in Hammond 91-49.
 
The Wildcats (3-1) are off to a good start under fourth-year head coach Reni Mason.
LC is led by Devon Washington (F, 6-9, Sr., 260) and Lashard Powell (G, 6-0, So., 170). Washington averaged 18.1 points per game last season and is scoring 14.1 a game through four games this year. Powell is averaging 11.8 points per game

The game will be broadcast by the Southeastern Channel and stream live on the Southland Conference Digital Network. Fans can watch the reairing of the game Thursday at 8 p.m., Friday at 1 p.m. Saturday at 8 a.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. on the Southeastern Channel.
 
Following Monday's game, the Lions will prepare for a showdown with in-state rival Tulane Saturday afternoon at 3:30 on the road.

SEASON OF GIVING
Southeastern Louisiana Athletics, the Southeastern Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Office of Multicultural and International Student Affairs will hold a food drive throughout the months of November and December. Fans who bring one of the requested items to the University Center (game day only) or the Dugas Center for Southeastern Athletics will receive a voucher for a discounted ticket.
