HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team returns home after road trips to Nebraska and Texas Tech to face Stetson University Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the University Center.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the Lions will unveil their Southland Conference Championship and NIT (National Invitational Tournament) banners prior to the game.

The Lions (1-3) will renew their rivalry with the Hatters (1-2) when the two played in the Trans America Athletic Conference (Now the Atlantic Sun). Despite Stetson leading the all-time series 8-3, SLU has won the last two meetings. The two teams last met Jan. 9, 1997 with Southeastern winning a thriller 64-62 at the University Center. The year prior, the Lions cruised past the Hatters Jan. 11, 1996 94-79 on the road.

SLU will be looking to build some momentum after a grueling first week of the season. The Lions faced 23rd-ranked LSU, Nebraska and Texas Tech on the road.

Southeastern found some light Tuesday against TTU. SLU held Texas Tech to just 42 percent shooting and pushed the 2017-18 Elite Eight participants for 40 minutes before the Red Raiders pulled away for the 59-40 win.

The Lions have had some bright spots even against the difficult schedule. Freshman Parker Edwards leads SLU in scoring (11.8 PPG). The Mandeville, Louisiana native has continued his stellar beginning to his career following his remarkable performance at LSU (25 points on six three-pointers in 10 minutes). The St. Paul's graduate is shooting 47 percent from the three-point line (11-for-23). Senior Moses Greenwood has held his own as expected. The Sharon, Mississippi native is averaging 11.3 points per game and 6.8 rebounds. Freshman Ty Brewer has been another positive for Southeastern. The 6-7 forward from Meridian, Mississippi is averaging 7.0 points per game and leads the team in field goal percentage at 61 percent (13-for-21).

Stetson, under sixth-year head coach Corey Williams, lost four starters from last year including three of their top four scorers led by Divine Myles (16.8 PPG) and B.J. Glasford (11.1).

Despite the loss of the scoring, the Hatters are loaded with talented returners led by Christiaan Jones. The sophomore guard has scored in double figures in all three games this year and leads the team in scoring (14.3 PPG).

The Hatters are young with seven sophomores and three freshmen. Despite the youth, Stetson is playing at an eye-popping pace attempting 238 shots in three games (79.3 shots a game) but are shooting just 39 percent (93-for-238).

After Saturday's game with the Hatters, the Lions will hit the road once again when they face Mississippi Valley State Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in Itta Bena, Mississippi.
